"Bode" - Adopted!

This page is intended to give you an overview of our adoption process and the steps you need to take if you are interested in giving one of our Cardigans a new start. Also, please find information on how to surrender a dog and how to report a Cardigan that may need our assistance. Please feel free to contact any of our Regional Coordinators if you have any questions.

Adoption Process
The Cardigan Welsh Corgi National Rescue Trust is a made up of Regional Coordinators and volunteers. We cover all of the United States and Canada. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, simply fill out our Adoption Application and submit it to your Regional Coordinator. A list of regions can be found here. Once we have received your application, your Regional Coordinator will touch base with you to let you know the status of dogs in your area. If you are interested in a particular dog, please note this on your application and send your application to the contact noted under the dog's listing. The CWCNRT cannot give a specific time frame as to when a dog may be available. Please note that we only post dogs on this website that are ready for placement. We may very well have other dogs in the program that are being evaluated and will be posted as soon as they are ready to be adopted.

When a dog does become available, your Regional Coordinator will check the references you have provided and schedule a home visit. In most instances, a wooden or chain link fenced yard is required. We will not place a dog in a home that uses an electric or radio fencing system. These are not suitable for Cardigans. Once your references and home check are complete, arrangements will be made for you to meet the dog in person. All family members should be available so that our volunteer can assess how the dog interacts with you and vice versa. Once it is deemed that you are a good fit for the Cardigan, an Adoption Agreement shall be completed and a non-refundable $500.00 adoption fee will be collected. All of our placements are on a trial basis! If for any reason you feel the relationship is not beneficial to you or the dog, the CWCNRT will take the dog back into our program.

All dogs placed by the CWCNRT are spayed or neutered and have been examined by a vet. Each dog is different so health decisions are made based on the individual dogs.

Surrendering a Cardigan
If you have found yourself in a position where you can no longer care for your Cardigan Welsh Corgi, we can help! Please contact the closest Regional Coordinator and they will work with you to help place your dog or bring your dog into our foster program. Please provide us with as much information on the dog as possible including vet records, health issues, habits, likes/dislikes, etc. The more information we have, the better we can help your dog find the right home. Please remember that we are a volunteer organization so should you need immediate assistance, please try contacting your Regional Coordinator by phone to expedite helping your dog.

Report a Cardigan in Need
Do you know of a Cardigan Welsh Corgi in need? We can help here too! Our volunteers patrol internet listings such as Petfinder for Cardigans who need help. We also have a good network of contacts with local area shelters in case a Cardigan is surrendered directly to them. If you know of a Cardigan that needs assistance, please contact the Regional Coordinator for the state in which the dog is located. We are always ready to spring into action to help our beloved dogs.
